Paul Harmon Rice - Haven, Kansas

Jerry Wayne Schmidt  - Minneapolis, Kansas

Picture
“You model what you expect” is the philosophy of Mr. Schmidt. “Taking time to listen to students is what many of them really need and thus a positive rapport will develop. The greatest human strength is the ability to care. You must have passion for what you do.”

Marcia Somers - Burrton, Kansas

As teachers, we have the chance to affect the future by making a difference in the present. It is our responsibility not only to teach the material effectively, creatively, and thoroughly, but also our responsibility to care about the students and what is happening in their lives. We can challenge them to see the world of the past, think about how it influences today, and consider how it will influence the future.”
